2022 Intern Summer Housing Registration

    Thank you for your interest in Summer Intern Housing at the University of Pennsylvania. Housing is offered from May 22nd through August 13th, 2022. This registration is for college students (ages 18-24*) who are either:

    • Penn and Non-Penn Students interning or working at Penn
    • Penn and Non-Penn students interning in the Philadelphia area

    Please note: If you are a Penn student you will be making payment through the Bursars Office. If you are not a Penn student you will be charged via Credit Card.

    * Upon submitting an application please allow 5 business days for this to be processed, before you will be able to move into your summer housing.

    *We advertise our housing to those aged 18-24 as the housing is in a dorm building and our market is not typically older people, if you are over 24, you may still apply but we are upfront with expectations of housing quality.

    A non-refundable $10.00 application fee plus a 5-week deposit will be required when submitting this application. We accept MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. Note: payment must be received in full prior to living on campus.

    Cost

    You will be housed in a furnished and air-conditioned high-rise residence hall in Hamilton Village on Penn's campus. All housing will be in multi-occupancy suites (meaning you will share the common living areas and bathroom with others. There is a five-week minimum stay. Based on availability, you may choose from the following room types:

    Please note, due to COVID-19, we will only be providing private bed spaces.

    Private Apartment ($65.00 per night/ $455.00 per week) - - MAX CAPACITY NO LONGER AVAILABLE Residents have their own private bedroom (with extra long twin bed), living room, kitchen (kitchen includes a full-size refrigerator, 4 burner stovetop, and oven but does not include a microwave, pots and pans, plates or utensils) and private bathroom.

    Private Bedroom w/ shared bath ($55.00 per night/ $385.00 per week) - Residents have their own bedroom, but will share the living room, and bathroom areas with up to 3 other people. Kitchens are likely but not guaranteed.

    Once we receive all the components of your application, we will send you an e-mail confirming your housing, and the remainder of your stay will be billed.

    Application Process: Please note that we require housing applications to be submitted at least 5 business days before your selected move-in date to ensure accommodations.

    Dining Plan

    Summer dining plans are available for purchase but are not required. Meal visits will be in one of our all-you-care-to-eat dining halls. Each time you eat, one visit is subtracted from your allowance. Dining Dollar$ can be used in any Penn Dining location. Each purchase amount is subtracted from your Dining Dollar$ account balance.

    PennCard

    A university ID card, called a PennCard, is required for access to the residence hall. PennCards are $45.00 each and will be printed for Non-PennCard holders in preparation for your arrival to campus. If do not already have an active PennCard you must submit a photo so that your PennCard can be printed prior to your arrival and you will receive your PennCard when you check in to the residence hall.

    This photo should be similar to a passport, license or school ID photo, preferably with a plain white or neutral background. The photo should be a color photo, taken within the past 6 months, and be approximately 2" x 2" in size. The picture must have a full view of the face, no hats or anything on the head unless it is for religious purposes, and the eyes must be opened. Other people must be cropped out of photos as well. Pictures should be sent in jpg. format and labeled as “lastname.firstname.jpg”(i.e. jones.steve) and can be uploaded directly using the section below called 'Photo' and says 'Choose File'. If you do not have the photo available now, you can complete your registration and log back in at a later date to this registration site using your email and password and upload your photo. If you have difficulty uploading the photo then you may send the picture to Hospitality@upenn.edu within 3 days of submitting your application in an email titled: Intern Housing PennCard photo.

    Occupancy Agreement
    Submission of an application for summer housing implies agreement on your part with the terms specified in the Occupancy Agreement and Policies and Procedures Handbook. Please read both documents carefully prior to completing this application. There is a link provided to access the Occupancy Agreement and Residential Handbook once you begin your registration.

    Please note that the summer is considered a “Low Occupancy” period, much like Spring Break. No guest passes are issued. See the Residential Handbook for more details. There is a link provided to access the Residential Handbook once you begin your registration.

    Sponsorship Letter

    In order to qualify for summer housing, we will need a sponsorship letter from the company you are working/interning for in the Philadelphia area sent to us to confirm your internship. An example of this sponsorship letter can be found here. We cannot process your application until we have received your sponsorship letter. The sponsorship letter can be sent as an email attachment to Hospitality@upenn.edu

    Summer Assignments
    Summer room assignments are not released in advance; you will receive your summer assignment upon check-in. We try and place people with the same housing type together. You will have the option to request one roommate/suitemate. Please note that this person must be registered for the same time frame that you are & must also request you as their roommate preference on their application. We will do our best to accommodate your request.

    Cancellations and Reservation Adjustments
    All cancellations and reservation adjustments must be made in writing to Hospitality@upenn.edu

    As stated in the Occupancy Agreement, the cancellation fees are as follows:

    • Cancellation 21 days or less prior to scheduled move-in date: $325.00
    • No show or cancel on scheduled move-in date: $500.00
